Via Ferrata Rules

For your safe ascent of the via ferrata at Riegersburg Castle, we kindly ask you to carefully observe the following safety and conduct rules.

By purchasing a ticket and/or using the via ferrata, you acknowledge and accept the via ferrata regulations in their entirety. Violations of these provisions or disregard of closures and instructions may result in the immediate withdrawal of the right of use and removal from the facility.

RULES OF CONDUCT

Use at your own risk

  • The via ferrata is an alpine route with an increased risk of accidents, falls, and rockfall.
  • Use of the via ferrata is entirely at your own risk and responsibility.
  • Use of the via ferrata is permitted only with complete, suitable, and fully functional via ferrata equipment. This includes, in particular, a climbing harness, a standards-compliant via ferrata set, and a climbing helmet.
  • The via ferrata may only be used by persons who are physically fit and have the necessary stamina and technical ability.
  • Children and adolescents may only use the via ferrata if they are suitably capable and proper legal supervision requirements are observed.
  • Closures, warning notices, and instructions issued by the operator must be strictly observed at all times.
  • The current opening hours and closure times are published on this website and must be strictly observed.
  • No use in the event of thunderstorms, strong winds, wet conditions, ice, darkness, or any other unsuitable conditions.
  • No use under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication where safe use is impaired.
  • Sufficient distance must always be maintained between persons. Overtaking is only permitted by prior agreement and only at suitable, safe points.
  • The operator does not guarantee that the route is accessible or safe to use at all times. Natural hazards, weather-related changes, rockfall, material wear, and technical or operational closures may occur at any time.
  • Visible damage, loose safety fixtures or other defects must be reported immediately to the operator: Riegersburg Castle +43 3153 82 13. If visible damage is present, use of the via ferrata is prohibited.
  • In an emergency, call for help immediately: Riegersburg Castle +43 3153 82 13, Mountain Rescue 140, European emergency number 112.
  • To the extent permitted by law, Burg Riegersburg Betriebs GmbH shall not be liable for property damage or financial loss arising from the use of the via ferrata; excluded from this limitation are personal injury as well as cases of intent, gross negligence, or mandatory statutory liability.
  • By using the via ferrata, you acknowledge these via ferrata regulations as binding.
